Modernization of the Bebelstraße combined heat and power plant in Riesa

Stadtwerke Riesa is continuing to advance the city’s sustainable energy supply: at the site of the combined heat and power plant on Bebelstraße, a modern heat pump system is being built in combination with a gas boiler, which is additionally equipped with an innovative electrode boiler.

The aim of the project is to make heat supply more efficient and climate-friendly. By using the electrode boiler, electrical energy can be utilized specifically for heat generation when electricity prices are low. This reduces the use of natural gas and significantly lowers CO₂ emissions.

The combination of proven gas technology and forward-looking electric heat generation enables flexible and cost-effective operation. At the same time, the project makes an important contribution to the energy transition in the region and strengthens security of supply for the citizens of Riesa.
