Stadtwerke Riesa is further developing the city’s heat supply infrastructure. At the combined heat and power plant on Bebelstraße, a heat pump system is being installed in combination with a gas boiler, which is additionally equipped with an electrode heating system.

The combination of different technologies allows heat generation to be flexibly adapted to the respective operating conditions. When electricity prices are favourable, the electrode heating system can use electricity specifically for heat generation, thereby reducing the use of the gas boiler and the associated demand for natural gas.

The interaction of the heat pump, gas boiler and electrode heating system provides various options for demand-based heat generation. The project therefore expands the existing energy infrastructure and supports a flexible heat supply for Riesa.
