Modernization of the Bebelstraße Combined Heat and Power Plant in Riesa

Stadtwerke Riesa is further advancing the city's sustainable energy supply with the modernization of its combined heat and power plant on Bebelstraße. The project includes the installation of a modern heat pump system alongside a gas-fired boiler equipped with an innovative electrode boiler.

The aim is to make heat generation more efficient and climate-friendly. The electrode boiler enables electricity to be converted into heat whenever electricity prices are low, reducing the need for natural gas and significantly lowering CO₂ emissions.

By combining proven gas technology with forward-looking electric heat generation, the new system ensures flexible, cost-effective operation. At the same time, the project supports the regional energy transition and strengthens the long-term reliability of heat supply for the people of Riesa.
