Dresden is continuing to develop its heat supply infrastructure, incorporating new technical solutions. KET was commissioned to implement a pilot project: a digitally controlled district heating network featuring a large-scale heat pump.

In Dresden’s Behringstraße, a modern air-source heat pump is integrated into a secondary district heating network. The system extracts heat from the ambient air and makes it available for the district’s heat supply.

The combination of heat pump technology and digitally controlled network integration allows the system to respond flexibly to different heat supply requirements. The large-scale heat pump complements the existing energy infrastructure by adding an additional source of heat generation.

The project demonstrates how large-scale heat pumps and digitally controlled district heating networks can be technically combined in urban districts and integrated into existing supply structures.
